Spiegel Mirror Relaskop

The Relaskop possesses the capabilities of an angle gauge, tree Caliper, hypsometer, clinometer and rangefinder - all in one compact, hand-held unit.

The Relaskop can be hand-held or mounted on a Jacob staff or tripod for increased accuracy of readings. In use, the 3 circular windows "D" should remain free of obstruction as they allow light to reach the scales. The button "E" released the brake which holds the scale wheel in position between readings. The scale wheel operates on the pendulum principle but dampens very quickly.

Looking through window "A" and "B" you have a clear wide angle field of vision. This field of vision is divided into 2 halves. In the upper half you view the terrain and the trees. In the lower half you will see a series of white scales and bars on a black background.

The horizontal line dividing the two halves is the measuring edge and all readings must be taken on this edge. To take a reading, press the brake release button "E" and the scale automatically rotates to the angle the instrument is titled when sighting at the point of measurement. Partial release of button "E" helps bring the pendulum to a fast stop. A tiltable sun shade "C" is provided to permit use when facing bright sunlight. A threaded hole "G" in the base of the Relaskop is used to attach a ball-joint adapter and Jacob staff or tripod.
